Dear fellow-afflicteds
=A0
I am puzzling over what should be the "correct" 2-tone blue paint=20
colours for my P type.
=A0
I realise that this topic has been aired amongst us previously, and I=20
also know that according to Malcolm Green's excellent book on the 4=20
cylinder MG OHC cars the colours are shown as:
=A0
CAMBRIDGE BLUE=20
PPG Code PEU 1628.=A0=20
ICI Code JC79
Name: Peugot Bleu Rhapsodie
=A0
OXFORD BLUE
PPG Code SAA 136
ICI Code GC 52
Name: Saab Midnight Blue.
=A0
(In passing, I'd just mention that the publisher transposed the names;=A0=
=20
the above is correct!)
=A0
However my query is this:
Having now obtained samples of cellulose paint in these colours the=20
Cambridge Blue is really quite dark - certainly much darker than many=20
of the 2-tone blue MMMs that we have been seeing over the past few=20
years.
=A0
For the benefit of Anglophiles I'd describe the Peugot colour as nearer =

to a slightly lighter version of RAF blue.
=A0
I'm aware that in the 30s, the lighter colour of the 2-tone greens and=20
reds on our cars were fairly dark, so it may well be that the same=20
applies to the blue as well?
=A0
When I showed my paint sample to Mike Allison at Silverstone last year, =

he reckoned that the blue WAS a bit dark.
=A0
None of the above really matters a great deal, but it would be good to=20
get the "proper" colour if I can!
=A0
Can anyone offer a view?
=A0
Incidentally, the Saab dark blue looks spot on!
=A0
Regards
=A0
Dick Morbey=A0 :-)
