How can you say that? All glen and I have done is comment on Keith's
foibles as reported by those who have happened to find things he has
either left behind or failed to find along the way. By the way Keith,
did you ever get together with all your luggage and cell phone?
I've been interested in seeing Australia since reading my
great-grandfather's diary of his time there in the late 1850's.
However, he was around Sidney and Melbourne rather than in Adelade and
South Australia. He gave my grandfather the middle name of Melbourne
... he MUST have liked something about it. My brother-in-law was in
Perth as was a cousin and her husband and a good friend from high
school spent two years in the south east coast cities and in Broken
Hill of so I've seen photos and heard a lot about Australia over the
years. I'm afraid a trip to Lake Gairdner would have to be either the
start or end of a full month stay if I ever got over there. I just
wonder if I could get along being a non-beer drinker.
I have a close friend who spends a lot of time in Samoa and he has
threatened to get me a ticket and take me along the next time he goes
back there. He claims it's cheap to get to Australia from Samoa. His
rationale is that as long as you go south of the equator and people
speak English you may as well visit every place you can. (He speaks
fluent Samoan). Having spent some time with some folks from Australia
I wonder about the wisdom of exactly calling what they speak English.
Hugh McCutcheon, who now coaches the U S National Volleyball team, is
from Australia. He has been in the U S for fifteen or so years and is
still difficult for me to understand at times.
