Jim, now you are taking a simple idea to the extreme.
No, depressing the clutch in order to shift gears does
not destabilize the car. In that short of time, not
much bad can happen. I am talking about disengaging
drive after a run while you are still at speed.
G-force, either positive or negative, has a
stabilizing effect on handling. Remove G-force buy
coasting out of gear and you are at the mercy of aero.
Now, disengaging drive probably wouldn't hurt after
chute deployment but I ask once again, what purpose
does this serve?
