One year (I don't remember which) during the van craze, Popular Hot Rod
magazine had an article about this 200mph Van. It was a Ford Econoline
chopped and sectioned I think. It had a Blown 427 cammer in the back and a
solid mounted rear axle. I remember that since the magazine was clear about
showing the air shocks and I wondered what they were for. I asked the guy at
Wendover, he wasn't to informative.
Anyway he apparently pain for three entrees under three different numbers
and sure enough a class AA/CV was formed. He had slicks on it and I saw it
bouncing off the salt at very low speeds. I think Mike Cook loaned him
Bonneville tires but it still could not be driven as I remember.
Never saw the van again or saw a comp van class listed in the program.
