Actually, that would be my choice, but like Keith
said, each and every one of us approaches LSR a
little differently. I like the 41 cause it's
pure nostalgia. You would be hard pressed to get
any real speed out of the car without a lot of
cubic money though. What you have to do is
evaluate what you, personally want to accomplish
in LSR, then build accordingly.

I want to build an early hemi-powered nostalgia
roadster, but work progressed very slowly, and I
started to get frustrated, so I picked up a 68
Camaro and with a little finessing, turned it
into a LSR car to feed my need for speed while I
build the roadster. Records are nice, but I want
to race just to be racing. My ultimate goal is
to drive 200 mph just one time. I don't care
what class the car fits into, I just want to make
the speed. I have a 1973 Monza fastback 2+2 that
I hope to accompish that with (probably using the
same motor out of the Camaro), but once I reach
that goal, I will go back to work on my nostalgia
car and gladly drop back in speed. I like the
idea of a fifties-style racer with an early hemi
and crackling zoomies. Whatever I build, it's
built the way I want to do it, to accomplish what
I want to accomplish. Go to the landspeed.com
site and look at all the pictures of Bonneville.
Do the same at the SCTA, ECTA and Australia Dry
Lakes site
(http://avoca.vicnet.net.au/~dlra/welcome.htm),
and get a feel for what you might want to build.
then, go out and then ask more questions here on
this list. ther are some combinations that are
easier and cheaper than others, there are some
that can be inherently fast, and there are some
that are exptrremely difficult challenges. Maybe
you want that challene, maybe you want immediate
speed. It just depends what you want to do to be
happy. Some guys wanna see how fast they can get
a tiny motor going, and some guys want to get a
big motor and go fast right now. Some guys want
to see how fast a big motor will go, some guys
want to attack ten different classes, and some
guys don't care about class at all (like me).

The only difference between a dreamer and a doer
is the doer just goes out and does it!
