Ok I think this is where I loose (what little I have) "respect of my
peers".........

Bonn 00' ..fresh Kendall 20w50.. return run 998cc bike.. 190?? averaged
191.5.. new record ..was 185), but at the 3.05 mile pop pop (got it on film)
center section of the rod was the only piece lying in there.

Pieced together another motor.... boxes of stuff, ie bags of old rings ....same
for the bearings out of bags of old stuff,.. Jon was relagated to cylinder head
duty... motel 6.. he calls me in after a couple hrs of trying to lap the valves
in with a piece of vacuum hose hooked to the valve at hand to a drill.... he
says they must be bent... I can still see daylight around the edge of the valves
looking down the port".... drive on Jon drive on you got the easy job,

about 0 dark thirty we got motor together, time to degree the cams, should be
not problem, until it became evident that the rockers on some of the valves
would not fit between the cam and the shim on top of the valve

out came some rockers, first filing then out came the side grinder... off came
about .070 from the bottom of these rockers... serious reservations... all the
hardening gone from the bottom of the rockers and gouging the shims which could
split and fly around in the motor

Jack Costella wandered over about 0530, I got his opinion, he says lets call
Nafzger, a call to Mr. Nafzger elicits a truly wonderful conversation about warm
up area, and rec. to run an antigalling additive

so I was told by the crew to run it... in my infinite wisdom .. sleep
deprivation.. desire (canadian team upped our record on this the last reg day,
by 0.3 mph from 191.5 to 191.8 with a tail wind)

off we went to starting line, crew says oh shit the oil is milky colored, I says
"damn the head gasket may be leaking, lets check the compression", all of us
completely spent from the thrash stood there motionless, then I rationalized
"why check it, it runs, and if its off what are we going to do about it" we
can either run a running engine, or go home

left the starting line and literally winced each time I brought it up to 10,000
rpm and shifted, pretty soon we were near the 2 mile marker, made it to the 3,
waited for the crew (not sure of speed, tach output from ign. box not compatible
with the tach, only had a shift light, if light off I was under 10,000, not sure
where) , crew shows up says you qualified 193.9mph, yippee

Mike Mangelli offers up nitrous supply, we slightly overfill our bottle, in
morning Jon and I are waiting at the end of the pavement, Jons freaks out runs
up says the the bottle "popped off" in my car while it was sitting on the floor
board getting heated by the heater".......cell phone to information..stateline
motel please....Mike we need a bottle...bottle found and installed

decide to drain some of the milky oil, rooting through half empty bottles, I
start pouring in oil, with one of them I notice that its pouring like chicken
broth,

I stop and many long days flash before me like a picture-rama, picture-rama
stops on Bonn. day 4, gotta go potty, putting on leathers in trailer, too long
to walk to porta potty, searching for container eyes spot half empty Kendall
bottle, in goes pee, on goes lid........................last day in goes oil, in
goes pee...............

return run nets 192++ in the first mile, out of nitrous in second mile.....down
run 193 in second mile... no new record

WOS didnt use pee... bent and twisted all 4 rods... and broke one.. did average
198 in first mile... to cold to pee though
