Roger, Mike Salter and I rebuilt my BT7 engine a few years ago (I =
pulled it, Mike did the internals and I did the externals and put the =
engine back in). We had a bad problem with serious coolant leaks right =
across the head, and that was after the block and head had been to the =
machine shop and checked for any distortion. It turned out to be the =
head gasket. It was a new one that came with the Moss head gasket set, =
but it failed completely. I paid out big dollars for an upgraded head =
gasket and the problem was cured. I have about 3500 miles on it now.

Up date.

So re-torqued head. Only one nut moved 3/4 turn. Added some of that =
Barrs leaks to coolant. Rigorous oil change (cooler too)

After 425 mi on new oil had another analysis done and pains still glycol =
present.

Now have head off.

Nothing really obvious.

Suggestions where/what to look for ?

Plan to take head to a machine shop for truing.

Approx 15k mi on rebuilt engine by PO.

Recently detected water droplets and creamy oil residue inside valve =
cover and near oil filler.

Pains as engine and car run so well ... grr

Did compression test and all OK at around 150 psi

Also had oil analysis done that confirmed glycol in oil. Interesting no =
water found ... assume gets burnt off ?

Upon reflection realise had been losing some coolant. Have recently =
installed a recovery reservoir and attributed the loss to air being =
removed. Silly me.

So need some ideas how to proceed and if there is a likely culprit area =
that others may have encountered ?

Maybe start by re torqueing the head ?

Not sure how to retest though apart from another oil test.

Remove head ?

Thoughts and ideas please
