Did you loosen the bottom bolt on the adjustment arm?

Seeking the collective wisdom. When I installed the generator on my newly
rebuilt engine last December it was a tight fit. Fine, I thought. After 1,500
or so miles, Saturday the generator light comes on. Upon inspection, the belt
is intact, but I can turn the generator pulley by hand and the belt has too
much play. No problem, just tighten it up. Wrong. With all my strength I
can?t get the generator to do more than barely wiggle with the mounting bolts
fully slackened. Thoughts on the best way to free up the generator?s up/down
movement? I?ll probably need to file down the ears a bit to make for an easier
fit.
