| Hi Mark:
Here is what I on my BJ8 did to solve the problem. I have 5 185 / 70 x 15
Vredesteins on 72 spoke 5? wheels (457F):
I made another front block ? narrower ? the one that the tire hold down rod
screws to - got it as narrow as possible, and still allowed it to work. I
recall gaining about 3/4? ? 1? ie; moved the wheel forward by that much, which
allowed the trunk lid to close completely without contacting the tire. It was
a bit fiddly, but it worked like a damn. Nice to be able to get a flat wheel /
tire assembly back in the trunk to get home!
Here?s something interesting: my BT7 tri-carb has 5 of the same wheel / tire
combo ? those wheels go right into the trunk without any modification
whatsoever! I guess these cars vary a bit in that area.
Note also that I?ve raised the fuel tanks on both cars on thin hard rubber
strips
Hope this helps. A photo is easy if you need it.

Subject: [Healeys] Tire/wheel combo for BT7
Listers,
I will be replacing the original painted 48 spoke wire wheel and 15 year old
165/15. I'd like to get a larger wheel/tire combo as a spare. I have 72 spoke
wheels on 185 Vredresteins that do not fit in the trunk What is the largest
tire/wheel combo that will fit in the trunk (boot).
Thanks,
Mark Fawcett
