Hi Chris;
I have always pressed the securing ring on the shaft. =C2=A0To remove I use=
heat.
This has worked well for me on other Fords and Dana axles.
It sounds to me as if the shaft is too small in diameter if the inner race =
of the bearing spins on the shaft. I'm not sure if some red loctite on the =
shaft would work well enough to secure it or not. =C2=A0Dealing with a safe=
ty issue here. =C2=A0Perhaps a new axle shaft?
Missed you at the Kastner Cup this year.
Regards,
Phil

Hi Guys,
I have a question.
My TR8 is running on Mustang axles. They are quite similar to the Southwick=
system.
I have heard that the securing ring on the axle which keeps the bearing in =
place can be pressed or I have "heard" they need to be shrinked on.
Making the ring red hot and slide it on the axle shaft in place.
What is right? Pressing on - which would be easy, or shrinking, what I didn=
't do before.
The reason I'm asking, the bearings don't stay in place and the shaft moves=
in the bearing. The securing ring is not strong enough.
Cheers
Chris
