This is several days overdue but as typically happens the real world was
waiting to bash me over the head as soon as I got back from Road America and
I've been playing catch up all week. I wanted to take a moment to thank each
and every one of you that attended the Kastner Cup last weekend. All that were
there can attest to the fact that this was no small event. With 500+ cars and
thousands of spectators it is difficult for a group to stand out but we did.
From the cars on display at the welcome dinner, to the FOT members involved
with and honored at the HOF induction, to the parade and concourse Friday
night, and all weekend on the track you shined in the spotlight. I hope you
enjoyed your time there. I can tell you first hand that we made a great
impression on the Road America staff as I'd knew we would.
Thanks too to all that supported the event through your donations of time,
materials, and/or labor. There are a lot of moving pieces involved in
executing a good event and it takes a village. The event would not have
happened without you. I personally wish I would have had more time to hang out
with all of you but my own Vintage ride demanded a lot of my time and attention
last weekend as they are prone to do. It was great to meet so many of you
though and I look forward to seeing you at other events in the future. Big
thanks to my co-chair Mark Alexander for all of his efforts over the past year
to help bring all of this together. It started with a phone call from him to me
when I was on my way to GingerMan in April of last year. I think we met our
expectations, Mark. Thanks to our special guests Peter Brock and Bob Johns for
gracing us with their presence, history, and insight that made the event all
that much more special. Thanks to Shawn Frank for his time spent capturing the
event for all to enjoy in the future. And finally thanks to Joe Alexander for
being our Grand Marshal and keeping Kas' spirit alive. He would have been
proud of you last weekend and of all of you that raced. Exquisite cars and
racing all weekend long.
Congrats to our Kastner Cup winner Tony Drews. The selection process is not an
easy one but Tony exemplifies the pillars that the award stands for. Congrats

As I said last weekend - FOT and the Kastner Cup represent the best parts of
Vintage Racing. As a driver of several orphan cars I have no equivalent to
this group or the Cup but I thank you for allowing me to be a Friend of
