Now the problem:
In K-Cup competing cars of 3 decades 50ties, 60ties, 70ties and they all ha=

Means it is unfair by design as an old TR2 can=E2=80=99t hold up with a TR6=
and a TR6 can=E2=80=99t compete with a prepped IMSA GTO TR8.
They=E2=80=99re all different animals on different modification levels and =
the outcome is for a good part predictable.

I=E2=80=99m only a guest in your and run what I get told. I don=E2=80=99t b=
other about tires. It just needs 4 wheels to make me happy, nothing else.
I don=E2=80=99t care about threads or not. I even drive on slicks in rain i=
f necessary.

I don=E2=80=99t know if the tires are already ordered but if they=E2=80=99r=
e slicks, we cut them to make them fitting the rules.
If that not helps, we put WD40 on to make them slick.

tire rules are generally per the sponsoring club for the event, as I unders=
tand it. =C2=A0 VRG (and PVGP, who I believe uses the VRG tire rules) have =
never allowed slicks, so they had to make an exception here. =C2=A0However,=
it=E2=80=99s not enforced, so cars have been seen that go through tech wit=
h treaded tires, which may end up being raced with other tires - just sayin=
! =C2=A0Tech is basically a safety process, not a rules enforcement - we ar=
e supposed to be self-policing. =C2=A0I think you=E2=80=99re seeing a prett=
y good reaction here because of the late timing of the announcement, and al=
so because many of the Triumph racers at this event run a lot of races with=
VRG and other east coast clubs that require treaded tires. =C2=A0It really=
does put the cars on an unequal footing (no pun intended) and all other th=
ings being equal, the car on slicks will be significantly faster. =C2=A0We =
all know ways we could make our cars faster - wider wheels, spoilers, air d=
ams, programmable ignition - but that=E2=80=99s not vintage.
I for one am glad to see other interesting Triumphs show up for the event, =
even if SCCA prepared - just factor the tires into who gets the awards. =C2=
=A0I personally feel that if you podium by 1-2 seconds a lap on slicks, you=
=E2=80=99ve lost your bragging rights. =C2=A0

that typically run on slick tires.=C2=A0 PVGP has modified the "no slicks"=

Kastner Cup.=C2=A0 You can also run these tires in the regular run groups, =
but you will not be eligible for any awards for podium recognition.=C2=A0 F=
