This is a very common problem with SUs. It is one of the first things
to look at when the car just starts running bad for no apparent reason. Some
of the repro repair kits have replaced the spring covered tube with a larger
diameter rubber type hose. The fitting in the float bowl is a plastic type
with a barb on it and the jet tube has a barb also. The rubber slides over
both and I wrap it with two wraps of safety wire to make sure the hose stays
put. It is bigger inside diameter and more flexible. That is the only repro
part that is any better than an original. Barry
