The display of such plates began with the 1980 model year. There
was no requirement for visible display for vehicles manufactured
before 1980. You will not have to do anything to your 1963 car as it
is old enough to preceed any of the federal laws regarding auto\
manufacture.

Depending on the state you will end up registering the car in, you
may or may not have an annual inspection to go through. From my
understaning of the English MOT check and having personal knowledge
of your car, I am sure your car would pass any such test.

The biggest problem you could possibly have is with the
documentation which might be required to establish ownership.
Be sure to bring with you all the documentation that was involved
with the purchase and the registration of the vehicle in the UK.

If you let us know what state you will be registering the
vehicle in, we can make some inquiries for you before you
leave to help make the process simpler.

Cheers,
Bill Sohl
