Also make sure that the bolt holes are not bent inward as often happens when
someone tightens the oil pan bolts too much.

You want the oil pan mating surface to be flat. I am now using Hyplomar
rather than Permatex or silicone as it dissolves in hot oil yet seals well.
Silicone if applied too thickly usually will find its way into the oil pan
and possibly block oil passages.

I don't remember who on the list recommended Hyplomar, but thanks.
