My new Nissan has a 6-speed gearbox and gears 1 thru 5 are in the same
location as the roadster 5 speed so changing up or down between 2nd and
3rd is the same. There isn't as much of a gearing difference between
the 2 gears but that's fine on my new car (with a turbo SR20 motor) and
would be even better on my roadster which needs high reves to keep it
cooking.

When I bought the new car I thought the 6-speed was just a trendy
indulgence until I took it out on some twisty, hilly back roads and
realised I had the perfect gear for every corner and the turbo can stay
on the boil. The hardest thing about having a 6-speed when you've had 5-
speeds for 20 years is remembering to put it in 5th where you used to
use 4th etc when you are just cruising around.

If I could only bolt the 6-speed up to the back of my U20.
