All was well for a few minutes until I turned everything on and then
saw a spark from the 30 amp fuse.  I don't know if the wiring is heavy
enough and I feel uncomfortable connecting it unfused as it can pump
out a lot more amperage than my wiring was designed for.

I'm going to call an electrical place and ask them a few questions. 
But hey, it was reading in the upper 13 volts on the battery while it
was running :^).
