I've always wondered....
I would have thought that other factors besides the popularity of the Z would 
have been trouble meeting the new bumper and smog requirements in the US.  
There was also a very strong feeling that the US would no longer approve of 
true roadsters, hence the introduction of cars like the Triumph Stag, Porsche 
914, etc., with some sort of built in roll bar.

Anyone know what the actual reasons for Nissan's decision to drop the 
roadster?
