Prices vary by area. In the D.C. area, I would pay $100-150.00 for an
engine that was an unknown, assuming it was complete. A 4-speed
bellhousing seems to go from $150.00 up. Nobody really wants an old
4-speed tranny, unless you are being paid to haul it off.

A running engine with decent oil pressure, no big clouds of smoke is
worth $500.00 up. Do a compression check before starting & after a few
minutes running to get an idea of engine condition. Hopefully, the
readings are within 10% from one cylinder to another on each test, and
not too big a difference between hot & cold readings.
