Hi there listers, I'm new to the V8 arena and have a couple of questions to
field.....

I am not new to the MGB, having restored a 76 and 73 from the ground up. My
next project is to put a V8 into my 79 roadster. With this in mind, I am
looking for some guidance.

I have a ROVER 215 CI engine from a early 70's 3500 P6 but it was from an auto
tranny setup, but I do not have the auto tranny. The engine still has the
torque converter attached though. For a tranny, I found a TR8 5 speed and I am
hoping I can mate the two and *slip it into the 79B* without major surgery.

I have a new MGB V8 radiator and a set of BV8 headers, but little else.

I will obviously need a FLYWHEEL CLUTCH and BELL HOUSING ADAPTOR PLATE, but
don't know what or where I should look for these.

I am sure there are folk out there that have been where I am at and I hope to
draw from your experiences.

The engine I have is complete with the exception of distributor and the SU
carbs are missing a bunch of the parts.

So my questions are:

1/. What flywheel options do I have, should I look for one for a ROVER manual
tranny or are there any more plentiful vehicle sources in local CAR BREAKERS
that I could rob? Any one recommend a car and model year to look for or
alternatively any one have a suitable unit they want to part with?

2/. What are the possibilities of mating the 5 Speed TR8 tranny to the ROVER
motor. Do I need a special adaptor plate, is there a source for this?

3/. What manifold and carburation would the list recommend. Should I stick with
the SU's or look for an alternative, HOLLEY etc?

4/. Are there any suppliers supporting this upgrade to the MGB that have a
catalog that I should get?

5/. Any suggestions as to what distributor I should look for. I will probably
buy new as there must be units available for the BUICK equivalent engine, right?

Thank's in advance for your suggestions, I look forward to some interesting
reading. John.
