I say:

Uh, here in the U.S. when you go out to hunt a pheasant, partridge, or
quail you might actually come back with a bird.  If you go out hunting
snipe you had better hope you were one of the people with a car and on
the inside of the joke.  The general snipe hunt involves taking a few
people who are a bit wet-behind-the-ears out into the woods and leaving
them there until morning while you and your buddies whoop it up someplace
warm.  Later you generally pick them up (pretending you were out all night
as well) and ask them if they bagged any snipe.
