Jim, I have somewhat more than a passing knowledge of the electricial code
(but I'm not an electrician) and I strongly urge you not to attempt to run 2
appliances on the same 240v circuit. Each of these appliances require, by
code, a dedicated circuit. Local codes do vary but I would be shocked (pun
intended) if they permitted the configuration you suggest.
Good luck with your project. I bought a 5hp compressor two years ago and I
don't know now how I lived without all these years.
