>>>I assume you only mean stock classes, I have seen rollovers in prep/mod
open
cars. I have seen rollovers in stock/sp too, but they were low enough
speed
that there was really no problem (other that a slightly crushed roof,
etc.)

Warning CAPS are for emphasis not shouting, this is a strictly text
environment. 8-)

Nope, I mean Solo 2 doesn't need to follow any RACE cage RULES period.
S/SP/P/M can have the 'guidelines' we have today. There is no need to
follow RACE rules, unless you want to RACE. If you want to RACE prepare
your car accordingly. If all you wish to do is Solo2, then do whatever
makes you comfortable and competitive.

I've seen more stock cars roll than anything else and I've seen cars of
every category roll except for P.

>>>Club racing, true, but Solo I does allow Solo II cars (with appropriate
safety equip). But if you really want to race your "street"
car on a track, many parts of the country have non-SCCA organizations that
allow it with no safety requirement beyond a helmet and cotton clothing. I
compete with one of those club (in addition to Solo 1 and 2) but would
personally never do it without at least a bar (our car has a full cage and
I
wear the full nomex gear). The group I do it with has both time trial
(limited passing, no "racing", like Solo 1) and racing groups.

My book shows Solo I must comply with the GCR specifications as opposed to
suggested for Solo2.

The deal is, NOTHING PROHIBITS you from putting in a cage to any
specification today. Put in the cage that meets the most demanding
standard for whatever YOU wish to race. Don't start to worry that your
cage weighs 70 lbs. and mine only weighs 50 lbs. and yours has weight
higher than mine or that yours is bolted and mine is welded, etc.

I don't own a street car, unless you count the 914 I just bought for $250
and I took the motor out for a rebuild the day it hit the driveway.
Everything else is a Truck or Solo only.
