You asked.  Think giant rat with a body up to 3 feet long and a tail just as
long again.  They were imported during the last century for some sort of
pest control(what were they thinking?).  They quickly got out of control and
have been tearing up the swamps ever since. There was a push in the
Louisiana state legislature a few years ago to make commercial food products
out of them, but the national media caught wind.  That was how I heard about
them, and I actually saw one at the Audubon Zoo last year.  They actually
have Nutria cook-offs and such throughout the year down there.  Look at it
this way, would you eat a raccoon?
