Julian,
We have greatly admired the UK club and we want very much to work closely with
them to accomplish the same goals. Like them, we are serious about Alpines and
want to unite the Alpine owners here in the US by providing the same sort of
spirited club atmosphere and educational environment. It's time to put the
"fun" back into this hobby and gain back the respect the Alpine so greatly
deserves. These are truly fun cars and it's time for us to become an organized
group to support the mark. There will soon be membership advertisement in most
classic car publications and watch fro an article on Alpines by John Webber in
the January edition of British Car (I believe I understand it's to run that
month, so don't quote me on that.). We will also be beginning a strong
membership campaign after the first of the year.
Anyone interested in becoming a member can visit http://www.saoca.org. We still
have a lot of work to do on the site, etc... Watch for announcements and
information about the developement of this club throughout the year. I have
many surprises up my sleeve! :-)
Invasion II is now slated for June 20th through 23rd 2002. We will be featuring
Bob Avery's Harrington Alpine for it's special Grand Appearance after a lengthy
restoration. This is the red Harrington Alpine that raced at Sebring in '62
&'63. This will be the largest gathering of Alpines in the country. You won't
want to miss this one! We have learned a lot from last years event and plan to
streamline the registration process drastically. SAOC of America members will
be able to attend the event at discounted rate. We will be announcing Invasion
II next month. Only 6 months to go!!

Congratulations.
If the US club is anywhere near as excellent and informative as the UK club,
you have a lot to look forward to.
