I messed up once and it made mine run rich, this might be worth checking. The insulator or gasket between carb and manifold has a cutout to supply vacuum to the power valve. It you use the wrong one

First off it takes a lot more fuel to run at idle than to run at speed proportionally to the amount the throttleplate is open ie at idle it is almost closed except for a few thousands.... Checking th

I wouldnt' think that changing the main would do any good unless it also runs wierd on the highway with your foot stompin' on the pedal. look to the idle/off idle circuit. Unfortunatly, I know nothin

You're correct Alfie, If lowering the mainjet size has an effect on the idle mixture, then gas is being brought in, bypassing the idle circuit in the carb... Mike oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM
