I messed up once and it made mine run rich, this might be worth checking. The
insulator or gasket between carb and manifold has a cutout to supply vacuum to
the power valve. It you use the wrong one or invert it and block the passage the
power valve will be on all the time. This was responsible for almost 5 MPG
disappearing.
