It's been awhile since I worked on 2nd generation F-body's, but if I recall, the leafs went under the axle? If my gfading memeory is correct, then take the bolts out of the hangers first, diconnect

As Mark suggested remove rear with springs and forward bracket. I installed springs, bracket and all on my '54. You will find the distance from the front spring bolt to the center of the axel to be
