Because you gave me the tip, I removed and took apart the vacuum windshield wiper motor. Guess what? It works great, WD40 and TLC did the trick. Thanks. Michael Lubitz 1946 Chevy 3/4 ton stock 1948

New thought. I see in the "Chevs of the 40's" catalogue that there is a fuel pump with an auxiliary vacuum described as "fuel pump w/vacuum pump (metal bowl) or (glass bowl) stops slow wipers-origin
