Dear Dick, What I can see is that 6" wheel was and option on the G4, and most cars in England race with 6 inch wheels. The car has not been modified to Modsport, and is very original, although I have

Quite the opposite problem I have on my '62 Alfa 1600 Spider. Using the Hoosier Vintage TDs, I spend all my time hunting for traction. Just like the good old days. When I ran the BFG Comp T/A R1 radi

In all the recent discussions on tires, a thought occurred to me. The rules specify various tires and make no concessions about track conditions. I'm talking about wet weather racing here. The rules

Several groups have put their futures on the line over the radial/bias issue. VSCCA of course requires Dunlop L's, as does Steve Earle in California. We at SVRA have taken a lot of heat an abuse sinc

You need to re-read the rules, because the tire list for each group clearly states that "street radials or other suiable rain tires are permitted in wet weather". Jack Woehrle SVRA PS: I hope I'm no

As I suggested once before, another way is to organize yourselves... Then wherever you go to race, you'll be racing with your rules. You'll also find out, in the process, how many of you there are of

Jack, VSCCA allows radials, or whatever tire was stock on the car... We are not limited to Dunlops. HOWEVER, the VSCCA tire rules are quite specific about width, i.e. very miniscule deviation from st

To have all cars on the same hard compound tire would take tire selection out of the variables that racers have to deal with. This would hardly be an authentic situation though. I never heard of a s

It's not really an issue of a spec. tire as much as selection of different tires within a correct size for a given car. i.e. Radials existed in 62 so why not have a Dunlop L racing tire, a Hoosier r

I agree that size is the main parameter for selecting eligible tires. That is measured size rather than the manufacturer's designated or advertised size. We base the correct size on the racing tires
