I'd bet that one of the plastic parts in the drive train has worn out. Take the whole thing to bits and see if there is any item that is obviously worn. Cure: replace worn part(s). ATB -- Mike Michae

I had the same problem. It was solved by replacing that small spring (missing on mine) on the lever which makes contact with the pawn (????) gear. You'll have to take it apart, attach a variable spe
