My recommendation is to pull the axle and have the hub pressed of professionally. Last time I tried the hub puller, I yanked the studs right thru the hub causing much consternation and expense. It's

All I realy want to do is to inspect & replace the bearings and seals. Are you saying I can pull the axle as a single unit to do and not go through the pain of separating the hub? Thanks David A. Tem

Absolutely. You have to remove remove the bolts behind the backing plate that hold the axle bearing housing. After that, the axle slides right out in your hands. The axle seal is a BITCH to get out.

Someone's confused here, perhaps it's me. You cannot change the wheel bearing or outer seal without separating the hub from the axle. If you are using the Churchill (or similar) tool, it's easier to

out I use a box end wrench with a one inch or so offset to work this seal out. By offset I mean it looks kinda like this /-- /--/ --/ Hope this helps some. Ed Purcell Clinton, TN
