Well, since the PO had put a later front apron on my 56, I decided to leave it and use the later style bumper brackets to mount my ADDCO sway bar. But eventually, I plan to make some custom brackets

at the point where the steering head ends and the column is first visible it is .875 measured with a caliper. I don't have a column without a wheel on it so I don't know if it changes from that point
