No play, that is a press fit, if I understand your question correctly. The trunnions are cast bronze, and I think they are all solid bronze. The difference would be in the machining and I don't know

BTW how tight should the lower trunion be attached to the upper? Are you asking about the trunnion to the vertical link? If so, not tight at all. Recommended setting can be found in the workshop manu

Internal!!!!! Used the external for one spring. What a nightmare. Not enough room for them to work properly and I couldnt apply them equally. Made my own compressor with a threaded rod, washers, nuts
