- Rain-X is a brand name; they offer several different (but related) glass treatments. Some work well with wipers, some do not (in my experience). But my guess is that anything your local wash applies

- alternator conversion... While you have the car apart, I'm pretty sure one or more of the bolts that holds the lower mounting bracket to the engine pierces all the way through to the engine's water

- I went to a local metal recycle outfit (sell used bits). Bought 3 pieces of aluminum (roughly1/16"); trimmed to match the cardboard and had it powdercoated. Need to have metal break (18" sufficient)
