Quick question - did Tiger engines ever need to be converted/modified at all to run reliably on unleaded fuel? I thought I heard that the heads or valves needed to be hardened or something like that

My Tiger with its 289 does have hardened seats so I don't know for sure if that would be an issue for a Tiger. However, it definitely was for my last Series V Alpine. I had the engine rebuilt and wen

I never had good results with lead additive, it only seemed to foul the spark plugs yearly so I stopped using any. I don't believe valve recession is a big problem with a stock Tiger. I believe the
