another idea is running a single large su...what is the size/model people use? I see there is a mini manifold for 1 1/2 tht appears to fit the hd-4's I have, so I could use a single one, but would it

A single 1 1/2 inch HS4/HIF44 S.U. is the present hot setup for the 1275 Mini crowd. David Anton at APT (www.aptfast.com) can tell you all you need to know about this conversion and sells all the ha

I've been considering this myself. I know in Vizard's book he talks about this being a good upgrade, even for an engine that is otherwise stock. Apparently the dual 1 1/4 SUs aren't quite sufficient

All the bores aren't sucking on the same straw at the same time. When their turn comes, they 'see' a bigger hole. When I swapped the 1.25" single carb on the turbo 1275 for a single 1.5, the HP went

According to the Vizard, it's because only one cylinder draws at a time, and even though the carbs are "connected", it is only drawing principally from one carb. Considering that a 1-1/2" carb is alm

I don't know, I tried the 1.75 SU but found 2 1.25s to be a better preformer for me. I know the Mini guys like em but i guess they just don't know much ;) I think my problem was a bum intake. I tried

Although no-one says so, I would expect that at higher rpm the advantage swings back towards twin carbs because the ports are 'seeing' the big single so often it has hasn't seen one port before it st

When I swapped my twin 1.25s for a single 1.5 HS4 on my completely stock 1275, I was quite pleased at the increase in power....set off a chain reaction where I decided I needed more power, had to get

Actually, Vizard says its quite the opposite, that the movement of air through the single carb sort of sets up a "mini ram" effect from cylinder to cylinder that twin carbs don't have because the air

Interesting point but I'm not convinced. For example all the big and highly tuned A-series engine make more power (peak power I guess) on a 45DCOE than than a single HIF44. Also if the single carb id
