I'm not sure about the later Sprites and Midgets, but there was an optional wooden wheel for the Bugeye. It had three slotted polished spokes with a wood rim. The spokes were positioned at approx. 12

Don't know if it's the Paddy Hopkirk or not... further clarification. The Moto-Lita is set up more like a modern wheel, with the spokes at approx. 3:00, 6:00, and 9:00. It has "Moto-Lita" engraved on

You might try to check out the backing plates. I just completed a 1275 transplant and later brakes during my Bugeye restoration. The car would make the same "scraping" noise when cornering at all...

Don't know about your Midget, but just put Mini Lite types on my new Bugeye. Used 165 70 Yokohamas from Tire Rack, and they worked out great. Virtually same diameter as stock tires. Actually wanted 1

Unfortunately, the detailing isn't there. the small groove around the top is not there. I seem to remember a thread some time back stating that none of the aftermarkets have the same level of detail,
