It depends on what type you have in mind. Synthetic oil is very slick and if you don't have some chemicals in the synthetic oil that intensifies the friction between the synchronizers and the gears,

I'm not 100 percent sure but sometime ago it was said that synthetic was a difinite no-no with the overdrive unit. Something about it being too slippery... Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spa

That is where the friction enhancers come in. My gearbox has a D type Overdrive and like I said, it works fine. I'm not 100 percent sure but sometime ago it was said that synthetic was a difinite no-

Just a note here......... We also are running Redline MTL in tranny, no overdrive and the rear end is also full of a Redline product... Seems to make shifting and generally everthing better... Donald

Rumour had it way back when Group 44 was running the Triumphs in SCCA Nationals that they used Redline synthetic in the diffs and trannys, even though they were sponsored by Quaker State... Back then
