- This is the one that I have but with a couple of brackets on the "exposed" ends. I can't imagine how it fits on the side of the truck which is why I've concluded that mine is for an under bed mount.

- Sounds to me that you have a side mount carrier. I assume that you have the notched out fenders on your truck! What you described is the same as what I have on my truck. Mine is a '58, I don't know

- Is it possible what you have is a side mount for something other than a Chevy/GMC? Or perhaps for a longer wheelbase truck, like a 3/4-ton, where the fender isn't dimpled the same? The pictures won't
