Use some emery cloth to ensure you did not gouge the edge where the seal first goes in or the area where it will be seated. Lightly use the emery cloth, the original seals were put in using permatex

Mike, I just finished doing this on my 59 1/2 ton. Assuming that it has not been damaged some how the trick is keeping the seal VERY straight when putting it in. Since I had everything out of the axl
