How critical is it for these old engines to be fueled with lead additives? Is the overall performance diminished if only using an 87 octane with nothing added? I've been running my 235 for a year now

Hey Sam, I put a new carb in last week and that seemed to help a little, but the mpg. is still low. Not like the Subaru Justy that my daughter drives. You can measure the miles in "weeks per gallon".

You can get an adapter sleeve for the oil bath outlet that will increase the dimension and achieve a snug fit. Just an option if you really don't want to lose the original filter style. Mike Gilday
