Hey, she said with TWO plugs out. If the engine was very hot, and CR very high, I'm sure it could run on with zero compression on two cylinders and no spark. But START like that, hmmmm... Ulix

Don Mathis asked: Sorry! I should have said two spark plugs _in_ instead of two spark plugs _out_. He could have had carrots in the other two holes. There were spark plugs in two of the spark plug ho

One night I had the ignition switch in a Plymouth minivan break, stuck in the "run" position. Turn it off, take out the key, engine still running. For some reason I didn't think to pull the ignition

Now, I've seen hit and miss engines. Wonderful little machines, indeed lots of fun. Great for running a mill saw, a small belt-driven harvester, or a grinding stone. I have yet to see one power a ca

Not if parts of the engine were firing only on compression. I've had plenty of engines diesel for a few seconds or more. High compression or low-octane fuel could both account for this. -- Matt Ligge

It certainly isn't MY fault that you are not an engineer. :^) In the strict sense diesel engines compress the air to a point that fuel is ignited WHEN it is injected. So this isn't quite the definit
