One night I had the ignition switch in a Plymouth minivan break, stuck in the "run" position. Turn it off, take out the key, engine still running. For some reason I didn't think to pull the ignition fuse. I opened the hood and started pulling plug wires to kill the engine. This was a four cylinder and I had three wires off and it was still running. I figured that perhaps the computer was making some kind of adjustments to keep it going.
