First, beware the alloy wheels with knock-off adaptors. Several have failed in use. This does not seem to be a problem with the bolt on wheels. Second, Kelvin, how did you get the alloys on the Maggo

I don't think they were that brand. There were some on an E type and on a big Healey. Have a look at simply plugging the grease nipple and machining the face of the hub down to fit inside TR adaptors

Wrong guess, amigo. TRs used splined adaptors that bolt onto the same hubs as steel wheel cars used, albeit with shorter studs as you observed. MGAs use different hubs, which themselves are splined,
