IMHO my comments for what they are worth....... My '52 YB on a 7.2 compression ratio gives out 120psi, with its soft camshaft overlap. These readings appear fantastic. The head that should be fitted

UNRELATED COMMENT, but... There were two Ford V4 engines in Europe, the German Taunus version in the SAAB above, and a UK Ford thing. It hurts to say it, the German version was far better............

Do it properly Chris, fit a new head gasket! The torque down after the head has settled in WAS IMPROTANT. Try and get a copper-asbestos-copper gasket, those composite things are £$%^&%%. Neil

Fit a ball joint seperator and screw it down hard, LEAVING THE NUT ON THE THREADS, only unscrewed about 4 to 5 turns, put a jack under the steering arm to support it, and hit the top of the seperator

A) All the 'B' series use the same rocker-cover gasket, most often a CORK one. Quality varies though, and I use the THICK ones sold by UNIPART, ( Rovers own spares department,) and most of our UK MG

I had thought of something similar to that as well. On some engines, ( Triumph, Ford, ) the post is split, so it clamps onto the shaft when the nuts are tightend. Seems a cheepo way of sorting it tho
