- Take the valve cover off, start the engine. Using a thin feeler gauge insert it between the rocker and the valve stem. The noisy one will quite. Maynard

- What carbs do you have? HS or HIF? If they are HS, check to make sure that the line from the bowl to the jet is connected properly and is not crimped. Maynard

- Sounds like you may have a massive vacuum leak. First check the intake manifold. There is supposed to by a plug on each end that looks like a small freeze plug,. they have been know to fall out. Hard

- I would cover the top of the tank with either Waxoyl or a rubber based undercoat. Most MGB Tanks rust from the top when moisture is trapped there between the tank and the body. Maynard
