Thanks Bruce, I checked with a Rover dealer but it seems there is no version of the SD1 gearbox with a mechanical drive! Regards Frank I does the

Absolutely not true! All early SD1s had the mechanical drive, at least until 1980. I suspect that the electronic drive didn't come in until the 1982 intro of the Series 2 cars. All the NAS cars sold

The electrical speedo drive is interchangeable with the mechanical drive. You can change this while you have the tranny apart. Also, this is the time to do some math re: your rear end ratio and the
