Tell us more about how the TD "just died" on the road home. Did you get any strange noises eminating from the direction of the engine or did the engine start sputtering and come to a halt or did it

Actually this happened to my TD. The #2 valve dropped into the cylinder due to high heat, (I was running with teh dizzy too far advanced) and then... Knew that there was a problem when I couldn't eve

A member of our local register had a valve head drop into the cylinder also, but since it happened at speed there were expensive noises and the rear wheels locked up on him. Things got real exciting,

Mine snapped the crankshaft at the #3 journal, so I guess I was lucky in that I coasted to a stop. Objectively if I wanted to get back on the road on the cheap the #2 valve, the crank and the piston
