Even cheaper and looks easier to use. Maybe one could develop a hard top hoist with this: http://www.organizationetc.com/hoismonbyrac.html It is only rated for 50 lbs. How much does a hardtop weigh?

I purchased a top for my wife's BN7 from a fellow who had stored it overhead using three hooks that picked up the top in the center along the front edge and roughly under the two stays along the rear

Perhaps this is a good argument to use the platform type Ray Juncal pointed out and place the top upside down on a carpet and cover it. Mine is still in bits being restored but I will eventually get
